"whats Love?"

When Rick Hoyt was 15, he communicated something to his father that changed both their lives. "Dad," the mute quadriplegic wrote in his computer after his father pushed him in a wheelchair in a five-kilometer race, "I felt like I wasn't handicapped."

Rick, now 37, has had cerebral palsy since birth. But he has always been treated simply as one of the family, included by his now-divorced parents in almost everything brothers Rob and Russell did.

"They told us to put Rick away, in an institution, (because) he's going to be nothing but a vegetable for the rest of his life," his father remembers.

"We said, 'No, we're not going to do that. We're going to bring Rick home and bring him up like any other child,'" says Dick Hoyt, 59, a retired lieutenant colonel with the Air National Guard. "And this is what we have done."

And how.

'Every Boston Marathon since 1981'

For more than 20 years, Dick has either towed, pushed or carried Rick in a string of athletic challenges including every Boston Marathon since 1981 and, most recently, last month's Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Hawaii.

For that event, competitors have to swim 2 1/2 miles through the ocean and then peddle a bicycle 112 miles before running a hilly, 26.2-mile marathon.

In the triathlon swim, Rick lies on his back in a rubber raft attached by rope to a wetsuit vest worn by his father. In the bike portion, Rick sits in a chair attached to the front of Dick's bike, and on the run, Dick pushes Rick in the race chair.

This year, it took them 16 hours and 14 minutes to finish the 140-mile day of reckoning -- about two hours slower than their first try, in 1989. But time isn't the point. Teamwork is. The Hoyts are the only tandem ever to complete the Ironman Triathlon World Championships together.

'The biggest smile you ever saw in your life'

The spark for this lifetime of patience and devotion was ignited in 1977.

The teen-age Rick asked his father if he could participate in a five-kilometer (3.1 mile) race to benefit an athlete paralyzed in an accident. Dick agreed and pushed his son the entire distance in a jerry-rigged chair that now resides in the Massachusetts Sports Hall of Fame.

As they crossed the finish line that day, Rick flashed "the biggest smile you ever saw in your life," his father told CNN. When they got home, Rick went to a specially built computer that allowed him to communicate using a head switch to select letters and spell out words.

The message Rick typed, expressing his joy of feeling "like I wasn't handicapped," began an odyssey of love that continues to this day, taking father and son to competitions around the world. It even inspired Dick to learn how to swim.

"He's the one who has motivated me because if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be out there competing," says Dick. "What I'm doing is loaning Rick my arms and legs so he can be out there competing like everybody else."

guys, are u not puzzled by how some women are so attracted to a jerk that they will do anything for that guy...

lets take a look at the qualities of a "jerk"
1. Violent
2. Smokes
3. Drinks
4. Takes drugS

Example: Motley Crue Band
this band had a book named, "The Dirt: Confessions of the world most notorious rock band."
in the book, the band members are known to date the world's most attractive women..
but then, they are also known for beating their women, fighting, taking every known drugs in the world and having lots of people dying around them.

so the band members had 3 out of 4 qualities of "jerks", does that mean YOU have to be a jerk to be attractive to women?

there also a chinese saying which goes like these
"男人不坏, 女人不爱"
it means "Men not bad, women don't love."

so this saying does support the "jerk" behaviour... if ur not a jerk, women wont love u....

are u convinced that u got to be a jerk to be attractive to women?

well... i hope not...
its not the end of the road if ur not a jerk...

first, u dun have to be a jerk to attract women.
second, women arent just simply drawn to the fact that these guys are jerks.
third, jerks have certain qualities that nice guys dun have.

Why Women "Don't MAke SENSE"

guys,
women actually dun ever make sense when its comes to love...

think back, when you have been in a situation where u really really liked a women, and you did everything that seems "right"...... but for some reason she jus never felt attracted to u..?
you called her often,
took her to nice places,
bought her gifts,
and was a complete gentleman.
but nth seemed to cause her to like you for more than jus a "friend".....?

HOWEVER,
in another situation, a super duper hot female friend of urs that was together with a complete "JERK" who was treating her badly, mean and abusive to her... the complete opposite on how u think guys should treat girls...? but the gal jus keeps going back to him...

so wads going on here?
the latter seems very successful at keeping the gal, the first seems like it does not work at all....
fascinating huhz...?
so the conclusion we'll get is "jerks" attracts the gals and the "nice guy" not...
don't it make sense?

why would'nt a women choose a "nice guy"?
was it abt his looks>?
was it that Mr "nice guy" doesnt have money?

well, i realised something...

like i mention last time, attraction happens in an instant and virtually on its own,
WITHOUT ANY CONSCIOUS DECISION AT ALL.

i was told by one of my big bro who was a trainee-doctor(tink he's a doctor already), about this fun fact... about 95% of decision making are not made CONSCIOUSLY.... this means that only lesser then 5% of ur decisions were already MADE UP in tat brain of urs and ur jus trying to make it ur idea...

oh well.. so wad does this have got to do with the 'A' word and women?
there's not a slightest bit of difference...
women never know wad they want, they are what u call the fickle-minded creatures.
they never make sense....

jus to add on,
go ask a gal why she is attracted to a certain guy, and she'll answer "Oh, he's so cute!!", "he's really a great guy!" or whateva...
all these are the programmed decisions(decision made unconsciously) to ANSWER this way....

but i truly believe if you could get the gal to really STOP and think about it, the real answer would be something like this,
"I have NO freakin idea!! I feel this EMOTION that jus makes me craves to be with him, and i'll jus justify this in my mind so i can EXPLAIN it to myself and everyone so that i wont look so CRAZY!"

Women and Sense, dun mixed...
Women jus dun make sense when it comes to love....

Ever wondered what in the world you are doing in this world?

It is something we might understand, we might not understand, or might understand it till a certain extent.
so do we need to know the reason behind something that has happen?
or maybe it wise jus to leave it the way it is...?

many people out there always looks for the reason why something happen... this are the so-called answers they are looking for...
why did you treat that way? why do i feel everyone against me? why do i have to do this and that? why why why?
why do people ask why?
wad are they actually seeking to find?

sometimes its good to know the reason of something happening... its gives us the assurance and also a point to ponder.
but sometimes, it comes to a point that the reason behind it becomes so blur & twisted that you can never understand it...
this is when you should learn to take a step back and re-think the whole picture...
if u can never find out the reason, dun then.

Dreams

i guess everyone has that...
but den does anyone out there that has a dream that really come true?

when we're young, very young, our dreams could be to be a doctor, teacher, policemen or a fireman...
when we're in our teens, we dream bigger, to be our own boss like CEO, MD, or to be someone special, or to be this or that...
when we're of marriable age and found ur love, we dream to have a wonderful wedding, to live happily ever after till death till us part....
when we have children, we dream for our children to continue our dream, thus the pressure and everything...
when we're old, we dream to live ur retirement peacefully...
and when we're on our dying bed, we dream to go to heaven...

to anyone out dere, didnt u have that kind of dream before?
the dream to live ur life like what u have in mind....

but dream is jus a dream...
when we're young, we found out only smartest get to be a doctor, got to be fit to be a policeman, got to have patience to be a teacher...
when we're teens, the business world is the survival of the fittest, people kill people, backstabbing to the top...
when we got married, our spouse changes, quarrels abt everything under the sun, relationship becomes divorce....
when we have children, they go against you, fight backs with you, run away from home, never listens to you...
when we old, diesease and sickness strikes, hits us at our weakest, frailing body...
and when we die, when we thought everything was over, we were rejected from heaven, sin but wasnt repentant...

dun u realised that dreams are jus how it stays in ur mind...?
didnt u know that there was no equation between dreams and reality..
Dreams =/= Reality

so y do we dream? y do people wish their dream will come true?
WHY?

a point to ponder...

first of all, IM NOT A LOVE GURU...
hahax.. i jus wanna share some of my thoughts to other guys that might wanna know..

i guess for those out there, feeling lonely, down and dejected, sometimes its always good to have a gal that will stay by u and to listen to u so that it will not be too hard to pass time.. but den some guys jus dun get y gals keeps rejecting or y they jus cant get a gal...
first, gals dun CHOOSE who they wanna be wif, its something called "attraction" that makes a gal likes a guy..
the topic on "attraction" is so BIG... but keeping it brief now...
so yea... keeping it very very simple.. its jus gals have these brain neutrons in them tat jus tells them immediately tat, this is the guy i wanna get to know, this is the guy for me.. its usually the first impressions that dictates ur future... though it might not be always the case all the time, its mostly true...
so BUCK UP on ur first impressions guys...

so how do u do jus that....? hahax...

"Election fever"

i guess ill talk a little of this...
singapore's general election jus ended, the pap won 82 seats and the opposition won only 2 seats. jus like the last election.. the PM won a 66.6%, a very strong mandate he says, and the worker's party has 37%; Singapore Democratic Alliance has 32%.

hmm... though im still young and cannot vote, i kinda think the election everytime is a little waste of time... every time u see the opposition trying all kinds of ways to win the voter's votes but den it always end up always losing... each time they will say they will come back stronger the next election but it seems the pap's mandate is getting stronger as election come and go.
to me, jus what does the opposition has to offer?
some claim that they will give the people another voice, others say they must be voted in to keep the pap government in check... if the pap government is already so strong and doing reasonably well, what does one or 2 voices in the parliament makes? how do they even keep the pap government in check? one or 2 mere men wanna stop the force of 82 pap members?
the opposition comes in every election tryin win seats but do they deserve it?
have u ever thought, y do u only see the opposition during the election, where are there when election fever is over? riding on the fruits of the pap government?

we cant blame the pap government being so strong... they have prove that they are good at what they are doing, even we, commoners, dun know what to do in the face of trouble... we jus panick and run? but they will try their best to change the situation for the betta... SarS is a good example.. did u hear those uncles, aunties say stop eatin chicken or ull die?
the government is good.. compare to others, singapore has a way betta political system...

jus to end off, im glad as a young singaporean that i feel safe to live and play in this country.. to whoeva governing this country so well, ku'Dos!!
